Geological aspects of thermal and mineral water occurrences of northwestern Croatia
In the area of northwestern Croatia springs of thermal waters are much more common then the mineral and thermomineral ones.In this area thermal water have been explored for last twenty years by numerous boreholes, but in the paper are presented only thos which have been obtained through the projects carried out by the Geological Institute of Zagreb. The exsploration was realizet trough the project "Geothermal map of the Republic of Croatia". It was found out during the exsploration that thermal water occurrence are related to certain lithistratgraphic and tectonic condition which must be fullfilld thet the water spout out at the surface or to be accumulated in the undergrond. The mostimportant factor is the existence of deep folds containing water-bearing strata and the link of waater-carriers with the areas of collection of atmospheric watre and with the zones where water-carriers reach near-surface areas.Underground circulacion of waters depends strongly on the degree of crushing and kartifications of carbonate rocks as a consequence of strong tectonic movements and long-lasting breaks in sediments, i. e., the erosion.
