Differences in secular changes in Middle ddalmatia populations

In order to reveal possible differences in their expression, we analyzed anthropometric variables of three different age groups in four populations of Middle Dalmatia. As the three age groups, situated on several islands and Pelješac peninsula were influenced by the environment and way of life during their growth, we suppose that those differences would manifest on their secular changes and aging process. On the Adriatic islands of Brač, Hvar, Korčula and peninsula of Pelješac, we analyzed 12 variables (height, weight, and some longitudinal and transversal variables, and skinfolds related to soft tissue), on three age groups, males as well as females between 20-25 years, 40-25 years and 60-65 years. In the population of analyzed islands and Pelješac peninsula we noticed significant differences in secular changes especiali in growth of various generations. The least differences was found in the group of males 60-65 if compared to those 40-45 of age, due to some age dependent influences in the populations of Pelješac peninsula and islands of Hvar and Korčula. The highest number of statistically significant variability was found among the males of the same age group 60-65, between islands Brač and Hvar and between Hvar and Pelješac peninsula, in the group aged 40-45 between the islands of Hvar and Brač, and only few differences in the group aged 20-25. In the female population aged between 60-65 we found the most differences between the islands Brač and Hvar and between the island of Hvar and Pelješac peninsula, in the group aged between 40-45 between the islands Brač and Hvar and Hvar and Korčula, and in the group aged 20-25 between the island of Hvar and Pelješac peninsula, but much les than in the other age groups.
