Calculation of main shafting elastic line of ship in operating conditions
The paper describes requirements which are to be followed in modelling of shafting systems of modern ships for the purpose of calculation of its elastic line and bearings loading, both at rest and in operating conditions. The aim is to present briefly the way of modelling of shafting parts, as well as modelling of bearings, with the special consideration of the most complicated non-linear model of a radial journal bearing. In this case calculation results are obtained by a non-linear algorithm and they may comprise calculated bearing reactions, eccentricity of shaft journals in bearings, as well as axial movements of resultant reaction forces. This model may be implemented for a more realistic calculation of shafting static behaviour (i.e. shafting alignment) in operating conditions. It can also be a starting point for calculations of shafting lateral vibrations, because these calculations originate from the static position of rotating shafting.
