Black storks between the Sio and the Drava River in the central Danube floodplain: Transboundary monitoring and protection plan
The largest and incomparable inland floodplain of European extends 130 kilometers along the Danube banks in the area where borders of Hungary, Serbia and Montenegro and Croatia meet. Most of the area is protected. Gemenc and Beda-Karapancsa as a part of the Hungarian "Duna-Drava" National park, "Gornje podunavlje" as a Special Nature Reserve in Serbia, and "Kopački rit" as a Nature Park in Croatia. Typical alluvial habitats, forest stands and a variety of water bodies, (river branches, oxbows, marshy depressions, and carp fishponds).
