Processing of geodynamic GPS-networks in Croatia with GAMIT software

Croatian territory belongs to the Adriatic micro plate. It is tectonically very active area with a lot of earthquakes and fault zones, especially in the coastal area and in the region of Medvednica. During last decade, geodesists made significant efforts in providing concrete measurements of kinematical movement of well-stabilized points within two projects. The first project was Croatian Geodynamic Network (CRODYN) comprising of more than 20 stations along the coast. The network was measured three times in the period from 1994 and 1998. The results of processing were somewhat in collision with predictions of other geosciences, so re-processing with different software is necessary. The second project is the Geodynamic network of the City of Zagreb. It is a special local network around the Croatian capitol which was observerd by GPS in 1997, 2001, and partly in 2003. It was the first usage of scientific software package GAMIT in Croatia. Results of processing have shown excellent accuracy and further interdisciplinary research confirmed the hypothesis of local geodynamical movements in the area around Mount Medvednica. This paper presents the experiences with two different methods of processing apllied to Zagreb: with a single stable point and with a reference frame defined with several stable points. In this context, a plan for re-processing the CRODYN data is proposed and discussed. Finally, the same approach could be tested on wider CEGRN campaigns.
