Properties of bituminous mixtures containing polymer-modified bitumen

This paper outlines the physical and chemical properties of bituminous mixtures containing bitumen and polymer-modified bitumen applied in the reconstruction of a road significantly deteriorated by tank-truck traffic. Applied for road reconstruction, the polymer-modified bitumen (PmB) was produced with a reactive ethylene terpolymer called Elvaloy AM. After one- year exploitation and exposure to long-lasting low temperatures in winter and high summer temperatures, no change of physical and chemical properties of the PmB was recorded - neither permanent deformations nor occurrence of wheel tracks.
