AOP : decolorization and mineralisation of RR45
Wastewater generated from industrial plants of production and application of industries is characterized by high coloration and significant amount of organic content and therefore represents a serious ecological problem. In order to find an effective process for wastewater treatment advanced oxidation processes such as: Fenton process, ozonation, peroxone have been studied in this work. These processes were applied separately and in combination, for removal of organic dye from water solution, C. I. Reactive Red 45 (RR45) was chosen as a representative of monochlortriazine reactive dye with azo chromophore. Decolorization was monitored by spectrophotometric measurements (UV/VIS), while instrumental measurements of total carbon (TOC) and absorbable organic halides (AOX) were used for monitoring of mineralization of RR45. On the bases of values of those parameters reaction kinetics were determined and overall process efficiency was estimated. Kinetics of wastewater bleaching was determined on the bases of UV/VIS spectrophotometric measurements.
