Ethics is one of the dimensions and standards of the overall quality of a society. This paper focuses on business ethics and the social responsibility of business enterprises. After providing definitions of ethics, business ethics and the social responsibility of business, the paper gives an example of ethics and social responsibility in the tourism and hotel industry, which is one of the world's greatest industries and also a social phenomenon with a great tendency to further expand and develop. The aim of this paper is to emphasise ethics as a dimension of the overall quality of a community and of the quality of life and work of its people. The media serve as an instrument through which enterprises inform the public of their business achievements, with increasing emphasis on their contribution to the development of the community and their social responsibility and business ethics. Promotional ethics increases the reputation and market competitiveness of an enterprise.
