Digitally Controlled Low-Loss Phase Shifter Design
This paper describes several design problems that can be encountered in designing the low-loss phase shifters. Proposed phase shifter is intended for use in microwave transmission line resonator. Operating frequency is 1.7GHz with bandwidth of 400MHz (approx. 25%). Phase shifter is electronically tuned. It uses varactor diodes for phase shift adjustment. Because of the limited phase shift that can be obtained by varactor diode, an additional switched line segment was introduced. Complete phase shifter can provide phase shift of 360o. Since the application in resonator requires very low loss deign (which corresponds to higher Q factor of the resonator) this work focused on reduction of the losses.
