Petrological and geochemical studies of the Permotriassic siliciclastic sequence in the western part of the Papuk Mountain (Croatia)

Permotriassic siliciclastic sediments appear in the western part of the Papuk Mountain overlying discordant on Palaeozoic crystalline rocks. The character of the sediments refers to development under oxidative conditions in continental environment. Terrigenous components were brought down from higher landsurfaces by flows and rivers to lake areas, (resulting in sedimentation in deltas, canals and lake facies). The thickness of the Permotriassic sediments is around 350 meters. They form three well defined groups, but develope continuously from each other.
