Pollen monitoring as a measure of pollinosis prevention
The aim of this work was to determine the beginning, course and end of the pollen season for plants in the City of Zagreb, to identify allergenic plants, and to assess variation in airborne pollen concentration depending on temperature and precipitation changes in order to prevent the symptoms of allergic reaction in pollen sensitive individuals. Birch pollen predominated in spring, with highest concentrations being recorded in February and March. Grass pollen predominated in May and June, and pollen of herbaceous plants of the genera Urtica and Ambrosia in July, August and September.
