Numerical algorithm for solving contact problems in rotor-dynamics
In this paper the FEM is used for calculating the transient response of horizontal multi-disc rotor supported by two dry friction bearings. The nonlinearity in numerical simulation is introduced on the basis of contact force theory through the deformation vector at contact point. The results of calculations are compared for rotors with different radial clearances. Beside the generalized alpha method, adaptive-time-step method is used reducing computational costs and improving accuracy.
