Influence of Damage Caused by Creasing Strain on Gas Permeabilities for Modified Polyethylene Foils
Barrier polymers are generally defined in terms of their gas permeability. The permeabilities of nitrogen, carbon dioxide and oxygen are reported for modified polyethylene foils at room temperature. Polyethylene foils had different additive content, i.e., 5 % ; 10 % ; and 15 %. As a control a polyethylene foil containing no additive (0%) was used. On each sample the stress intensity i.e., 30 ; 50 ; 70: 110 and 160 numbers of cycles were applied. A significant gas permeability increase occurred after 110 cycles for all samples showing almoust similar trend for the three investigated gases.
