Determination of Pu, Am and U in liquid samples by low-level alpha-spectrometry
A rapid, sensitive and selective procedure for determination of Pu, Am, and U in environmental and industrial liquid samples by electrodeposition technique was described. Optimum conditions for electrodeposition of actinides (plating time and current) were determined. Actinides were plated from ammonium oxalate-ammonium sulfate electrolyte containing diethyl triamino pentaacetic acid (DTPA). The optimized method was applied to environmental samples. The chemical yield of plated actinides was determined by 232U tracer. The maximum yield was obtained for electrodeposition lasted 3 hours and current 500 mA.
