Corticospinal tract jitter measurement- Possible new methods
Stimulation of the human brain by electric or magnetic stimulus, evokes resposnes of an individual limb muscle with latency from 10 to 50 ms, where acquisition time up to 100 ms is needed. When studying latency variability, called jitter, a latency resolution of 10 us or at least 20 us is thus needed from the measuring system. Since jitter measurements became routine neurophysiological procedure, commercially available EMG equipment regularly offers high resolution jitter studies, but mostly of short latency responses (up to 10 ms). therefore, we present two modifications of a commercial EMG equipment for research of corticospinal tract jitter with longer latency responses from two limb muscles.
