The pelagic environment comprises biocenoses, which are to be found in the open sea, independent from the sea bottom. The biological resources in the pelagic environment, which have the most important economic value for the fishery in the Adriatic Sea are pelagic fish species. These species spend most of their life independently from the sea bottom, and they are very sensitive to environmental changes.
