Zooplankton in the dam reservoirs Hazna and Vidara, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Research on the dam reservoirs Hazna and Vidara, relating to the water supply needs of Gradačac, included, among the other, analyses of plankton community. Samples were collected in October 2001, and in February, May and August 2002. All the analyses were done using standard methods. Twelve Rotifera species were found and majority of them were nanophytoplankton. Less abundant, but permanently presented, were sedimentators that filtrate bacteria suspension. Cladocera were presented with, three species, while Copepoda were presented with only two species. Majority of determined species belonged to trophic group typical for mesotrophic lakes, and just a few indicated a higher degree of eutrophication, especially during the summer period. The proportion of Rotifers, as a main trophic group, in the zooplankton communities of both lakes was between 68% and 76% which indicated, together with nutrient contents, that these lakes are mesoeutrophic.
