Stability Investigation of Two Combined Accelerators in Natural Rubber Films
The most commonly used accelerator in natural rubber, specially in latex is zinc diethyldithiocarbamate (ZDEC), because of its good mechanical properties. The presence of carcinogenic has been detected in goods, prepared with ZDEC and proved in many studies. The ZDEC accelerator produces secondary amines, during the vulcanization process which react with present NOx and give N-nitrosoamines. The nitrosoamines are not only dangerous when they are present in goods, but they also volatile at elevated temperatures during the curing and processing and they are threat to environment and to working atmosphere. In this work was investigated the possibility of substitution of ZDEC with combination of two other accelerators, zinc mercaptobenzothiazole (ZMBT) and diphenylguanidine (DPG). Investigations were carried out on fully formulated natural rubber films. The mechanical properties of the samples were determinate before and after thermal degradation and the intensity of the degradation were detected by IR-spectrophotometer.
