Hall Effect and Resistivity of Cu55Hf45-xTix Metallic Glasses
Systematic study of Cu Hf Ti metallic glasses with 45 revealed the formation of bulk metallic glasses (BMG) for 15 3 where also the liquidus temperature T , showed deep minimum 55 45-x x l [1]. Recent study of some mechanical properties and magnetic properties revealed monotonic increase of these properties with x with no particular features in the composition range for BMG formation [2]. Here, we present the results of detailed measurements of the electrical resistivity and the Hall effect of these alloys. These properties also show monotonic variations with x with no particular features in the BMG composition range, hence do not indicate BMG compositions. Since, all studied alloys have the same number of the valency electrons per atom, e/a, this criterion for the determination of BMG compositions [3] is not applicable to Cu Hf Ti alloys. [1] I.A.
