Growth of Leuciscus souffia muticellus Bonaparte, 1837 in the Cetina River, Croatia
Age and growth of 393 samples of Leuciscus souffia muticellus were examined in the Cetina River in Croatia. The maximum observed length was 134 mm. Eight age classes were determined, from 0+ to 7+. The biggest proportion of specimens (37%) was in the 2+ age category. Growth was virtually linear until the age of four, after which point the growth rate slowed. The Fulton condition factor was 1.11. The length-weight relationship was W = 5 x 10-6L3.1445 The parameter b was > 3.0 indicating an allometric growth. The growth can be described by the von Bertalanffy curve: Lt= 171.8[1-e-0.16(t+1.45)) ; r'= 0.99. The resulting growth coefficient (K) was 0.16.
