Orbital floor reconstruction with a resorbable polydioxanon sheet (PDS)
The purpose of the study was to investigate whether flexible, biodegradable polydioxanon foil shows good results with regard to entrapment of orbital contents, dipolopia , bulbus motility and proptosis / enophthalmos. Folow - up involved clinical examination, test Hess Lanacster, computed tomography. Clinical examinations and test Hess Lanacaster were taken before operation and up to 16 months postoperatively. Inclusion criteria were patients with blow - out fractures with small and moderate defects in orbital floor . We have expirienced good results concerning functional and cosmetic outcome. PDS have the advantage of ease of use and good biocompatibility, no side effects on donor site or possibilities for transmission of slow viruses.
