Physical activity level, BMI, WHR and body fat percentage in urban vs. rural female population
The urban and rural employed population differ primarily in the component of activity at work. The younger urban women revealed a higher sport activity level. Rural women in their fifties do not become more active in sport, and has been observed for the urban population, probably due to their high work and leisure time activities. The difference in the obesity indicators could not be fully explained by the observed activity level differences. The causes should be searched in the probably still existing differences in nutritional habits.
