Accumulation and retention of heavy metals in soils from the vinegrowing regions
Determined spatial variability of the major chemical and physical properties in vineyard soils is characteristic for cultivated soils. Typical geogenic elements, Fe, Mn, Cr and Ni showed a highly significant mutual correlation, whereas their correlation with Cu, Pb and Zn was generally not significant. Total concentrations of Cd, Cu and Zn in vineyard soils are higher than their background concentrations, which may be associated with long-time intensive fertilization and protection of grapevine. Therefore, associations of heavy metals with the selected soil properties determined applying factor analysis might explain the preferential feature of metal retention in soil.
