Controlled ecosystem carbon flow experiment in the northern Adriatic Sea

This paper summarizes present understanding of "Mucilage" phenomenon in the northern Adriatic Sea from the point of view of organic carbon production-decomposition by integrating microbial processes and dynamics of particle formation. The mesocosm experiment was adopted to test the new hypothesis.
