Non-dimensional entropy analysis of condenser and/or evaporator type heat exchanger
The paper presents a non-dimensional analysis of entropy generation in heat exchangers of the evaporator or/and condenser type. The entropy generation is normed by the product of the overall heat transfer coefficient k and the heat transfer surface area A0. Only the influence of the temperature difference between the streams has been taken into account in the analysis while the impact of the pressure drop of the streams on the entropy generation has been neglected. The real to maximum entropy generation is shown, and put into relation with the heat transfer effectiveness. Using the derived relevant non-dimensional analytical equations, the non-dimensional graphical presentation is made. The diagrams make it possible to obtain the entropy generation for each operating point of the heat exchanger.
