Macroalgae composition in Vinodol seashore, and its relation to other areas in northern and eastern Adriatic
The macroalgae of Vinodol seashore have been studied only sporadically by some autors. This paper is chiefly a new completed review of these studies, and an essay on the potential taxonomical number of macroalgae in this area, and its significance in the entire macroalgae of northern and eastern Adriatic. After our appreciation, about 50 - 75% of the total possible macroalgae of Vinodol shores up today was registered. After the taxa rates, rhodophytes and chlorophytes in this area are complementary to the cooler parts of upper Adriatic with a lower unstable salinity as northern Istra and Velebit channel. The number of calcified algae is reduced due to a scarce hydrodynamism of waves, and due to the pollution there prevail the annual and "deciduous" forms, and thus there is the rate of pheophytes major than in the comparable ecological sampling sites. Thus actual contribution may be an useful base for the further detailed studies of phytobenthos in this area.
