Optimisation of diet and modelling of nutritional assessment in Croatian boarding schools
: Modelling is based on nutritional assessments and diet analysis determined in female and male boarding schools in Croatia. Investigated are populations from 14 to 19 years of age. Applied are linear and non-linear models for the following nutritional assessment parameters: body mass, body weight, body mass index (BMI), of Subscapular and triceps skin fold thickness related to intake of energy, protein, fat and carbohydrates. The work is aimed to establish mathematical model for functional dependencies of nutritional assessment characteristics and nutrition in Croatian boarding schools, and optimisation of diet by linear programming models. Proposed are multivariable linear models for relationships between the parameters of nutritional assessment and intake of principal food components. Established models have correlation coefficients in the range from 0.58 to 0.79. The models are determined for each female and male generation, and evolution of the model parameters through generations is determined. A statistical analysis of the models is provided, and confidence intervals for model parameters are calculated for 0.05 significance level. In view of recommended diet allowances (RDA) and econometric considerations, proposed are linear programming models for optimisation of diet planning in the Croatian boarding schools.
