Comparison of roughness function of the machined surface in turning and orthogonal turn-milling

This paper presents the study of the suitability of the machining process by means of the machined surface roughness function. Experimentally, the mathematical models have been defined, which describe the interdependence of the input and output parameters of the machining process for orthogonal turn-milling and turning. Experimental tests have been carried out on steel 16MnCr5, with tools from the standard program with cermet inserts. The areas of conventional and high cutting speeds were tested, as well as the machining parameters interesting in practice.
