Sexual Hormones in Human Larynx and Voice
Human voice is hormonally dependent and it could be clearly demonstrated in puberty with differentiation between male and female voices , voice changes premenstrually and following hormonal therapy. Such facts clearly indicate that larynx is hormonal target organ and that it should posses androgen , estrogen and progesterone receptors. In order to prove that canine larynxes if various age and gender were analyzed, as well as human normal and cancer laryngeal tissue. In all normal material androgen, estrogen, progesterone receptors were identified. In some laryngeal cancer specimens androgen receptors were found indicating that some laryngeal cancer are hormonally dependent and stimulated.
