MODEL FOR DESIGNING SPILLWAY FORM IN OPEN WATERCOURSES
A relatively frequent occurrence of damage on the water steps and cascades of open watercourses has motivated us to research the causes of this hydro-technical problem. It has been discovered by the research performed so far that one of the frequent reasons for such damage is the design error that results from inadequate treatment of flow kinetic energy at the place where a step is located. Therefore, we have made a flow kinetic energy analysis from the point of view of customary design criterion for the calculation of weir section of the mentioned structures.The problem is reduced to solving 4 non-linear equations with 4 unknowns by the Newton iterative method. The results of the analysis are given in this paper.
