Do we make a Progress in Dermatovenereology Mission?

In last five years Croatian Dermatovenerological Society (CDVS) and myself have had continuing scientific relationship with our friends recognized international dermatovenerologists worldwide. The organization of International Symposiums, Congresses and especially in publishing in our Journal Acta Dermatovenerologica Croatica (ADC), we have done the best we could. We will continue in our Journal in focusing the updates in dermatology and venerology, as well as participating in international meetings. The next one will be continuing medical education course Immunodermatology I. (Zagreb, April 29, 2005) and 2nd Croatian – Italian Symposium on Psoriasis (Ivanić Grad, Spetember, 23-24, 2005). From May 18 to 21, 2006 in Split CDVS will organize 3rd Congress of Croatian Dermatovenerologists with international participation. The purpose of ADC is to inform the readers on all CDVS activities and professional events in the country and abroad which we have done in 2004, too. Let me invite all of you who would be willing to participate further actively in ADC as a peer-review journal. From Vol. 13 in 2005 we wouldn’ t print Congress abstracts and reports (except of some crucial). We suggest more active to participate in Historical articles and Letter to the Editor. We have interests for many treatises covering various fields from dermatology, venerology, pediatrics, and pharmacology to mark the transition to visually dependent culture in the field of dermatovenerology. To make further professional contact with our international friends I would like to inform about closely contact with Israeli Society of Dermatovenerology & Venereology. It has been a privilege for me as Editor-in-Chief of ADC and lecturer to be a part of Scientific Symposium of Israeli Dermatological Society. On February 4, 2005 there was a scientific meeting of the Israeli Society of Dermatology & Venereology, in organization of Department for Dermatovenerology of Prof. Sarah Brenner, well international, worldwide recognized dermatovenerologist, from Sourasky Medical Centre, Tel Aviv. At the beginning of the Symposium, president of Israeli Society of Dermatology & Venerology Prof.Alcalay gave opening speech and information about their Society. As invited speaker I had pleasure to held a lecture about our experience in psoriasis treatment. After that, the organizer has a motto to deal of pride in the quality of selected cases that were presented from colleagues of the Prof. Brenner’ s Department. She took special attention to every detail to make sure that the lectures will be perfect and satisfaction for all participants. There were presented: Dermatitis papulosa juvenilis (Dr. Oliver Kreiger) ; Giant condyloma acuminata (Dr. Avigdar Srebrenik) ; Cat scratch disease (Dr. Einat Tamir) ; Lupus erythematosus (Dr. Jonid Vahel) ; Sarcoidosis (Dr. Jakov Mashiak) ; Histiocytosis (Dr. Helena Martinez de Morentin) ; Pemphigus vulgaris (Dr. Helena Martinez de Morentin) ; Leishmaniasis (Dr. P. Nina Shemesh) ; Behcet’ s disease (Dr. Ilan Goldberg) ; and Laugier-Huntziger syndrome (Dr. Ilan Goldberg). The venue for this prestigious symposium was Sourasky Medical Centre in Tel Aviv. Rich discussion was held after very interesting case presentations. I believe the meeting was magnificent. Prof. Sarah Brenner was a superb educator and gentle with subordinates and tolerant of colleagues with warmth and grace. This event enjoys the active participation of the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Centre area dermatovnenerologist faculties and residents. As Editor-in-Chief of Acta Dermatovenerologica Croatica I was very satisfy with contacts with Israeli dermatovenerologists and some presenters who are willing to publish in ADC. Combine me visit to the Meeting of Israeli Society of Dermatology & Venereology with inspiring visits to the magical Israeli places as well as Jerusalem and Jad Vasheum I had open my senses to the wealth of historical heritage of Israel. There I have realized once again that terrible Holocaust, which takes place 60 years ago, must not be forgotten ever. I am grateful for being guest of Israeli Society of Dermatology & Venereology, especially Prof. Brenner, for skill, compassion, and commitment to create this Symposium.
