System for Automated Maintenance of Web Sites
This paper describes the architecture of a template-based system for Web content management and automated maintenance of Web sites. Web pages can be defined through a graphical user interface, while the page definitions are stored in XML format. The definition of a page is structured into modules that can be of various types. The content can originate from different sources and includes the hypertext items entered by the user of the tool, the data from databases and the hyperlinks generated based on given file filters. The tool is capable of reverse and forward engineering of a Web site. Site contents can be generated and published manually and/or automatically. When the Web sites are maintained automatically, the site generator deletes expired pages, inspects local file systems and generates pages that need to be updated. The system is primarily applicable for all the Web pages aimed predominantly to present the documents residing on the own server.
