The nineteen-fifties in Europe and America were strongly marked by the cold-war politics which strongly influenced international art scene. The art production of both East and West were strongly marked by cold-war ideological dichotomy deeply inscribed into aesthetic and political choices made by artists on the both sides of the Iron curtain. The book brings a selection of lectures on cold-war culture, art and politics by the group of internationaly recognized schoolars, that were given on the occasion of the International Conference "Art and Ideology. The Nineteen-fifties in a Devided Europein", that was held in Zagreb in 1999.
