NSDI based on Spatial Databases
Primary purpose National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) is generally best possible usage of spatial data funds, which includes efficient data collection, better processing and storage and most importantly a prompt delivery to its users. Different data sources, with different accuracy, nature, models and other factors make it quite a challenge for a NSDI to manage. Only by properly modeling fundamental layers of a spatial data fund, which include cadastral and topographical databases, an efficient NSDI can be created. The paper presents an overview of SDBMS technology's development and current status, combined with a short analysis of requirements potentially posed to it by the NSDI. Also some remarks on the modeling of state's fundamental spatial data layers (cadastral and topographical) in view of realization of some derived systems are given.
