Ferric-Tannate Formation and Anticorrosive Properties of Mimosa Tannin in Acidic Solutions
In this study, the effect of mimosa tannin (MT) on corrosion processes on steel in sulfuric acid solutions of pH 1 to 3 was studied using potentiodynamic polarization and gravimetrical methods. The nature of complexes formed by the used commercial MT product with ferric ions was investigated by specrophotometric methods. Experimental results were interpreted in terms of the of ionic equilibrium in ferric-tannate solutions. The influence of competitive adsorption of Cl- and (SO4)2- ions on anticorrosive properties of MT was also considered.
