Diagnostic and clinical characteristics of cerebellar processes
Characteristics of pathologic cerebellar processes were observed in 31 patients aged 27 to 75 years. Computed tomography of the brain, analysis of cerebrospinal fluid, and noninvasive ultrasonography by the extra-and intracranial levels were performed in all, and additional angiography and brain magnetic resonance imaging in some patients. Ischemic cerebrovascular processes prevailed, as they were detected in 19 patients, followed by hematoma in four, tumor in three, and cyst in one patient. Hemiparesis, not necessarily contralateral to the lesion, was observed as a characteristic of the processes of posterior fossa. During the first week of the disease, differential diagnosis dilemmas arose from computed tomography findings as to the hypodense/hyperdense features. Recovery was slower than in case of a supratentorial process.
