Stroke subtype as a predictor of nursing home placement: Northern Manhattan Stroke Study

The aim of the study was to determine wheather stroke subtype is a predictor of a nursing home placement after acute care hospitalization. After adjustment for race ethnicity, aducation, receiving assistance at home prior to stroke, predictors of nursing home placement were age over 65 and presentation with nonlacunar stroke subtype.
