WED-G_192 symptoms prevalence during chemotherapy in elderly patients (PTS) with colorectal cancer
Incidence of CRC is increasing especially in elderly. Elderly pts are suffering from comorbid diseases(cardiovascular, respiratory, diabetes, etc.) They're usin more medications and can be frail. Therefore application of chemotherapy can be problematic. The aim was to establish does chemotherapy causes different symptoms in elderly pts. versus younger with CRC. Conclusion: There was no difference between typeand frequency of chemotherqapy side effects according to age. The average number of side effects is hihger in younger pts(3, 1 vs.2, 3)but elderly had more serious neutropenia then younger. there was no need to stop chemotherapy in the elderly because of side effects. Taking in consideration comorbid disease and pts. frailty the application of chemotherapy in elderly is same safe and useful as in the younger pts.
