Outpatient utilisation of antibiotics in Zagreb (Croatia) 2001-2003
Data on outpatient utilization of antibiotics were collected from Zagreb Pharmacy to calculate number of DDD per 1000 inhabitant per day. The highest consumption was recorded for penicillins, which accounted for a half of total antibiotic utilisation. Amoxicillin + clavulanic acid was the most commonly prescribed antibiotics. The utilisation of antibiotics in Zagreb is uneconomical. The analysis showed expensive antibiotics to be largely prescribed.
