Imidazole Derivatives as Copper Corrosion Inhibitors
The aim of this paper is to study the influence of molecule structure on the efficiency of imidazole derivatives as corrosion inhibitors for copper in hydrochloric acid. The influence of various substituents in imidazole ring on the inhibiting efficiency of imidazole derivatives was investigated. The investigations were performed using electrochemical techniques of potentiostatic polarization ; Tafel extrapolation and polarization resistance measurements. Experimental results have shown that imidazole derivatives investigated reduce the corrosion current and increase the polarization resistance to a great extent.
