Fusarium species associated with winter wheat head blight in Croatia
Head blight of winter wheat caused by Fusarium species are common wide spread disease in Republic of Croatia. Over two year period of research carried out on ten genotypes suffering of these disease Fusarium graminearum Schw. was identified as principal parasite. Other Fusarium species (F. avenaceum (Corda ex Fr.) Sacc. F. nivale (Fr.) Ces. = Microdochium nivale (Fries) Sammuels and Hallett, F. moniliforme Sheld., F. moniliforme var. subglutinans Wr. Reink. and Fusarium spp.) occured less. By statistical analysis (ANOVA) we determined statistically justifiable yield differences between genotypes in both years and we believe that yield reduction is the consequence of head blight agents attack (environmental conditions and agrotechnique were equal for all genotypes and none of them showed higher sensitivity on other disease).
