Fusarium spp. on winter wheat root and stalk
Root and stalk root of winter wheat caused by Fusarium species are common wide spread disease in Eastern part Republic of Croatia. Over two year period of research carried out on ten genotypes suffering of these disease Fusarium graminearum Schw. was identified as principal parasite both in root and stalk of wheat. Other Fusarium species (F. nivale (Fr.) Ces. = Microdochium nivale (Fries) Sammuels and Hallett, F. moniliforme Sheld., F. avenaceum (Corda ex Fr.) Sacc. and Fusarium spp.) occured less. The lowest percentage of infested plants was found at the tillering stage, whereas the highest one at the forking stage. As the ear formating stage, the percentage of infection was somewhat lower without major changes at milk stage. The differences in genotypes tolerance were not found.
