Kopački rit Nature Park, a specific flooded area in the north-eastern part of Croatia

From 1976, hydrological research was systematically carried out in Kopački rit within the tasks of the project "Biological Research of the Special Zoological Reserve Kopački rit" headed by Prof. Dr. Dragica Gucunski. Due to the war in 1991 and the occupation of Baranja, all research in the area of Kopački rit was interrupted. It started again in November 1997 after the Homeland War, but the scope of this research was rather narrowed for safety reasons during the first research year (because of the mines) and this only in the area of Lake Sakadaš.
