The Map of Mineral Resources Of Croatia and GIS

The Map of mineral resources of the Republic Croatia is produced in two scales: at the scale 1: 100, 000, and at the scale 1:200, 000. The basic concept of the map is to cover all known mineral resources and occurrences on the territory of Croatia through a multi-layered model, which includes: - The map of energy resources - The map of metal resources - The map of non-metal resources (including building raw materials) - The map of regional mineralogenic provinces The model is structured according to the Guidelines for the Mineral resource map and resource potential of the Republic of Croatia, which are used to produce mineral resource map sheets (KMS) on the basis of available archived data and field work. These guidelines are the basis for the development of geographical information system (GIS) with the aid of the Arc/Info software (ESRI, USA). The database is organized with the Microsoft Access software into four thematic units, which are four linked databases: - General data - kms_opc (Opći podaci) - Geological data - kms_geo (Geološki podaci) - Mineral reserve statement - kms_rez (Podaci o rezervama) - Documentation - kms_dok (Dokumentacija) Each object, deposit or mineral occurrence has unique cadastral number which is the key for the connection of the databases and the spatial presentation.
