Geophysical Water Exploration on the Korčula Island (Croatia)
The survey area is located in the karst field on the Dalmatian island Korčula. Additional geophysical explorations have been performed to define more precisely a hydrogeological model, as brackish water occur in wells in very dry seasons, due to increased exploitation. The exploration area belongs to typical karst areas of the Dinarides with dominantly developed Mesozoic carbonates. The basic exploration method has been electrical tomography, but electrical sounding, refraction seismics and electromagnetic method have been also applied. The tomographic data together with other geophysical data enable a definition of a geological model and especially the identification of faults and fractured zones, as aquifers in karst areas. Connection of these zones would enable the definition of fault zones' spread.
