Music therapy of aphasia

Music and speech are not the same functions - they are different in majority of their elements. Neither is the localisation of both functions, therefore amusia- the music imparement does not always go with aphasia. Music is one of the most favourable means for approaching in aphasic patients. In the active approach it is necessary to find out favourite kind of music and songs that aphasic patient likes, but to sing or whistle, not only listen. On the basis of literature and our own experience we emphasize the importance of methodology (the length of setting and the whole treatement, music tempo, song theme, etc.) as well as complexity of music therapy treatement (together with pictures, written text etc.).
