The influence of training on different age of rowers

Sixteen rower were grouped according to the age and the years of training. Some anthropometric measures were taken and the following test made: an a bicycle ergometer using the direct method the maximum oxygen intake was computed. While resting and after a specific workload on a hand ergometer blood samples were taken and the following was determined: the concentration of elements, energy substances, metabolites, the enzyme activity and the hemogram. The results of different age groups of rowers (16 to 24 yers of age) show a tendency for change with age and training period. Muscle mass increases and in conjunction with it bone diameters, with shoulders and vital capacity. A better heart efficiency can be seen from the dropin rate of the pulse after activity.A more economical working of the organism as a whole is manifested by higher values of maximum oxygen puls. While at test no significant differences among the group were obtained in most of the analyzed substances in the blood serum, with age and training period an increase of the concentration of creatinin and activity of creatinin kinaze and lessening of activity of alcaline phosphataze was noted. Length of training period seems also to facilitate a more efficient maintenance of homeostasis of the serum elements after work loads (especially K+, phosphate and Mg++), a lessening of the concentration levels of cholesterol and free fatty acids and an increase of the triglicerides in blood serum, an increase of the activity of creatinin kinaze and lactate dehydrogenaze and in formation of a specific pattern of izoenzymes, in which LDH3 and LDH2 forms dominate, while the activity of LDH4 and LDH5 izoenzymes diminishes. The lactate curve flattens and moves to the right. The alpha and beta angles decrease.
