Successive childhood bilingualism: A tentative model
The paper tries to explore the process and end results of 2 years of intensive bilingual development in a 3-4 year old child. It focuses on the power relationship between the subjects two language, e.g. on the bidirectional influence of its phonological and morphosyntactic subcomponents, indicating a dynamic and fragile nature of children's linguistic representations. The results are tentatively presented in the light of dynamic models of bilingual development and thresholds theory.
