Analysis of thin-wall injection moulding process
The advanced development of polymer moulds has been marked, among other trends, also by the production of moulded parts with increasingly thin walls. On the one hand such a trend allows saving of material and shorter cycles of injection moulding, but on the other hand the production of thin-wall mouldings requires key parameters at their extreme levels and within very narrow tolerances. The application of CAE analysis in the classical procedure of injection moulding has proven to be a very important factor in forecasting and optimising the production parameters as well as moulding properties. However, in thin-wall injection moulding certain differences in the behaviour of polymer materials have been noted, and it is necessary to analyse the applicability of the CAE analysis for thin-wall injection moulding. For this purpose two CAE programs have been applied, and the results of simulation have been compared to the results obtained by the experiments in real conditions.
