Production and electrical characteristics of controlled doped polyanilin polymer
We report on a synthesis of electrically conducting polyaniline using oxidation method at room temperature and at 0°C. We found that polyaniline produced at 0°C had better conducting properties. Controlled doping of polyaniline was performed using hydrochloric acid (HCl). The current-voltage characteristics of samples measured at room temperature and showed an ohmic behaviour. At low temperatures polyaniline turns into an insulator. The resistance of the samples was measured at temperatures ranging from 10 K to 290 K in cooling-down and warming-up temperature sweeps. From the temperature dependence of the resistance it was found that the samples showed a conductor-to-insulator transition which moved to higher temperatures with the decrease in the amount of doping. After a deprotonation, which was performed by using two different concentrations of an aqueous ammonium solution (O, 2M and 2M), and repeated doping with HCl, it was observed that the temperature dependence of the resistance for all the samples followed, corresponding to a three-dimensional mechanism of variable-range-hoppig conductivity. These results are in agreement with a recent theory of Fogler, Teber and Shklovskii, and present its first experimental confirmation.
